EDGE FINDER

An edge finder, also known as a wiggler or center finder, is a tool used in machining to locate the edges of a workpiece accurately. This is crucial for precise machining operations. It can determine the edge position of the workpiece and protect machine components, reducing wear caused by inaccurate positioning of the machine tool. Please scroll down to explore our products.

Lih-Hsun provides various edge finders for different needs:

Mechanical edge finder uses two spring-loaded cylinders wobble during spindle rotation until touching the workpiece edge, then center and "kick off" to indicate the exact edge.
Optical edge finder uses light and lenses for precise edge detection.
Ceramic edge finder is made of zirconia, non-magnetic, and ideal for magnetic materials.

MACHANICAL EDGE FINDER-SME/TN TYPE

Φ10mm straight shank can be installed directly on milling chuck or drilling chuck (refer to Fig.1)
Press slightly on edge of sensor unit with hands to keep eccentricity at 0.5mm (refer to Fig.2)
Rotate with speed of 400-600 rpm
Make sensor unit contact to the end face of workpiece shown as Fig.2. Then, contact and move gradually, it is going to turn into Fig.3 and sensor unit keeps still. Furthermore, if fine feed is started, then sensor until will move according to a specific direction. The start point of this movement is the basis position to look for.
The position of end face of the workpiece is the coordinate position of sensor unit plus radius 5mm
Accuracy : 0.005mm

CAUTIONS

Do not use the bend part or to drag or pull with force.
Never let impurities or foreign things stain on the slide face.
While using, be sure the speed not over 600rpm.
Never apply it on machine of horizontal type

OPTICAL EDGE FINDER-SOE TYPE

Not necessary to rotate while measuring
Quickly locate work edges
Save time to find position, for milling machine, jig borers, and other machine tools

Uses dry batteries to light the red lamp.
